Nothing!!! Morning faithful followers from a very early Klong Moung beach, but more about why in my next instalment. Lets get onto Wednesday.....
I decided today was literally going to be about the beach and relaxing, that was why I came after all. So after breakfast I took a little stroll around the headland and along the beautiful beach that stretched out before me. This is the bit where the 2 posh hotels are. And very nice they look too, but I am more than happy with Bliss thank you very much. I was just walking away from a spot where I had taken a couple of pictures and all of a sudden I just saw a whole section of sand move, quickly. When I looked closer it was thousands of little crabs all running for cover! It was amazing to see. These little crabs make shapes on the sand when they burrow and some of them are very pretty. A clever little crab even made one that looked like 2 palm trees, I took a picture you will be glad to hear!
After an hour or so I headed back to my spot by the swing, underneath the ban yan tree, you know the one, and settled in for the day. As did some of the other people staying here and we all lay ourselves out, no-one obscuring anyones view, and took in the morning sun. I love this time of day here, the locals are still getting the boast ready and cooking their breakfast, but soon it quietened down to just the wind in the trees and the waves on the shore. With the occasional lawnmower sounding engine of a longtail boast heading in or out.
Before I knew it, lunch time appeared and as this was a day for not leaving the beach (not even for supplies at the shop) I headed up to the Sunset bar which I found out yesterday, did food. One minute later I was there and enjoying an ice cold beer, waiting for my Tom yum soup, rice and grilled prawn Thai salad with mango and chilli jam. OMG. I have found it. The place where I have eaten the best food in Thailand. And I've eaten in a few. And this place is a little hut on the beach. Perfection. It really was amazing, so fresh and spicy and bloody fab!!
I was joined a little later by Julia, a German girl who is staying at Bliss and she stopped to ask if the food was good, and we ended up having a drink and chatting about travelling for an hour. Then we went out separate ways and I headed back to my spot for a little post lunch snooze.
An hour or so later, face sticky with dribble I thought to my self, what else did this beach have to offer me and there was only one option. A massage. And as if by magic, a massage place appeared, right next to the Sunset Bar. One hour later my back, neck and shoulders had been well and truly massaged, rubbed, pummelled and kneaded by the very expert elbows and forearms of a tiny Thai woman (I have no ides where they get their strength from and they all have really bony elbows), they actually climb on the bed and walk all over you! All with the sea breeze washing over me. All for under a tenner again.
Back to my spot as sunset was approaching and I know how you all love a sunset picture. This time I was joined for a chat by another resident of Bliss, Christian, the Norwegian physiotherapist. And a lovely young man he was indeed. So nice in fact, he almost (I say almost) distracted me from my most important job of the day, recording for prosperity the sun setting on another 24 hours of wonderful memories. It was a close thing though, he was very pleasing on the eye (I have a sneaky pic too!!)
Another incredible sunset later, birds song and mosque calling over, there really was only one place to go for dinner. So back to the Sunset bar. And very pleased they were to see me too, especially after the rave review I gave them at lunch. Now, you normally find the best place to eat on the last night, cursing yourself for not finding it sooner (unless of course it's Baan Thai), but I had found the food at this place in time to eat my way through the entire menu!
So evening choice of Thai red curry, Keem Maw rice with prawns and a green papaya spicy salad made, I listened to the sounds of the cooking, the chatter of the chef and looked into the beautiful brown eyes of my companion. Sadly, not the Norwegian physio but a very very cute little dog. I always attract them, but this is the first this holiday. But no touchy touchy, I couldn't afford the £150 rabies jab before I came away I promised the nurse faithfully that I wouldn't let any dogs bite me......
The food was as incredible as lunch and as I sat, alone but for the dog and the crashing of the waves, it realised how lucky I was to be here. And how tired I was and needed to go to bed. Early start for a trip on Thursday.
So I navigated the beach in the dark, careful not to step on any crabs or dogs (only the second one I can be sure of) and after a rather large crab made me jump, I was back in my bed and off to the land of nod.
And now I am awake, breakfast is being set up and I have to upload Wednesday's pics for you (I do not want to disappoint you all) and then I am off on another boat trip. To somewhere that I am expecting to be busy, but cannot come all this way and not see. More about that tomorrow faithful followers. Until then, love you all and.....
